Duties and Responsibilities:
Under administrative direction, is responsible for driving the university’s athletic revenue and fan engagement in collaboration with University and Sun Devil Athletics’ departments. Will have oversight of branding, marketing, advertising, promotions, social media, research, and management of Sun Devil Athletics (SDA) customer relationship manage (CRM) system. The SDA Marketing Department supports ticket sales and service operations, sponsorship sales conducted by ASU’s partner IMG, community relations, broadcast, game experience, and our individual sport programs. This position will require significant collaboration and teamwork with all internal and university departments. Results will be measured by performance metrics specific to the areas overseeing. Administrative duties include strategic marketing planning, budgeting, media and agency negotiations, and staff management and development. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Brand Management:
- Implements all brand marketing campaigns for SDA while maintaining the integrity of the brand identity.
- Directs the brand strategy across multiple content platforms including, but not limited to, print, digital, and broadcast mediums.
- Directs all aspects of the marketing and advertising budgets.
- Monitors and ensures compliance of all SDA trademarks and wordmarks in conjunction with the Office of Trademark Management and the Sun Devil Brand Council.
- Works in conjunction with the Pac-12 and other member institutions to advance both the university’s brand within the conference and the conference¿s brand as a whole.
Marketing:
- Develops, coordinates, and executes comprehensive advertising campaigns for SDA utilizing traditional, social, and alternative media. These will be conducted with a mixture of internal staff, university assets, and outside agencies.
- Directs the development of creative campaigns designed to support ticket sales for all SDA teams along with corresponding promotional strategies.
- Collaborates with other departments to implement promotional and theme calendars for each sport designed to increase fan interaction throughout the entire year.
- In collaboration with IMG and the Sun Devil Game Experience Department, develops and implements new marketing initiatives such as retail promotions, in-game entertainment platforms, and wireless apps.
- In association with the Ticket Sales and Service Departments, activates programs designed to drive lead generation for season, group, and premium seating sales.
Social Media:
- Designs and implements a cohesive digital identity and brand image that complements the brand image of SDA and the University.
- Builds, directs and implements strategies and digital marketing campaigns designed to increase traffic and interaction with all forms of digital communication,
- Creates and implements a comprehensive social media strategy including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube, etc. designed to increase engagement and revenues for SDA.
Analytics and CRM:
- Directs the marketing aspects of SDA participation in the University¿s CRM initiative; analyzes all data and develops a performance plan to maximize ticket sales and revenues; measures all results and communicates the information to SDA senior management.
- Oversees all marketing research and develops matrices to measure fan affinity, involvement, and customer service satisfaction utilizing data sources such as Scarborough and Personix.
- Implements the plan to analyze the data, assist in the development of an improvement program and measure and report the results.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise, hire, and conduct performance evaluations for employees and functions of the SDA Marketing Department.
Reports to the Associate Vice President for University Public Affairs and the Associate Athletic Director for Revenue. Adheres to the rules and regulations of the NCAA and PAC-12, as well as the policies and procedures of the department, the University, and the Arizona Board of Regents.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Varies; will include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Posted Rate of Pay
$55,495 - $63,495 per year; DOE
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in: professional or collegiate athletics; budget management with a particular focus on return on investment (ROI); brand marketing; analytical and strategic thinking; team leadership and collaboration; customer segmentation and market research; setting priorities; working in a fast paced environment; working non-traditional hours.
Knowledge of: social media, digital and e-mail marketing strategies and applications; understanding graphic design principles and practices. Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills.
